Prototypes…

Prototypes are an important aspect of product development. They can help you resolve design questions, facilitate feedback from interested parties, help resolve technical risk, and are just plain fun to build.

I’ve been working on the LED driver system for the sculpture and have assembled a 1/4 scale model in the dining room. This in no way will resemble the final product, but it’s enough so that I can start writing software that will then be used in the final piece. #ResolvingTechnicalRisk

For the petals atop the sculpture, the ones that protect the laser module, I’ve started by cutting some .038 aluminum into a 48” leaf resembling a basic Mandlebrot set. It’s weird enough that with a couple of additional layers, it might just work. #PlayingInTheShop
